I didn't crash, but there's that moment when you're like "I very much would like to slow down now, why isn't that happening". I should probably get that fixed

Oh thats an easy fix, what broke? Is it just the pads?

I don't know technical terms, but they pads didn't look they were really clamping the wheel, and the front brakes are closer together while the lever isn't depressed. There was a bit of friction, but fully depressing the rear brake lever didn't prevent the wheel from turning even while walking the bike. I'm going to take it to my university bike shop tomorrow. It shouldn't be a problem to fix, but it was surprising in the moment.

Sounds like you need new brake cables

It's like 6 weeks old. That's what you get with a $79 K-Mart bike. Whatever, it still gets me to and from class

Theres a term Cyclists use to describe a bike like that.
BSO, or Bike Shaped Object

I like that term, I think I'll use that in the future. Just for shits and giggles, check out what happened to my previous bike. That was caused by a User ID10T error. It was a free beach cruiser so I didn't lose that much sleep

I call that "User I did it error"

Hopefully your front brakes worked better than your rear brakes. Also better than the brakes / steering / wheels on the F1 car in your .gif. I got a chuckle watching them try to turn away from the wall after the front end went all explodey.
